Prayagraj to Varanasi Distance – A fascinating journey: discovering Varanasi and Prayagraj in 2 nights and 3 adventurous days.

Day 1: Prayagraj to Varanasi Distance-Charming Varanasi:

We start our exploration in Varanasi, where we are greeted by the mystical aura of the ancient city. We start the day with a leisurely boat ride on the holy river Ganges, witnessing the mesmerizing spectacle of the sunrise. As we sail along the river, we immerse ourselves in the spiritual atmosphere and witness how devotees perform various rituals on the ghats (stairs above the river). This serene experience sets the tone for our trip to Varanasi.

After the boat ride, we venture into the narrow streets of the old town, known as “galis”. These streets are a treasure trove of lively bazaars, offering plenty of handicrafts, textiles and delicious street food. We visit the famous Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, known for its stunning architecture, intricate carvings and religious significance. The serene atmosphere of the temple provides a deep sense of peace and devotion.

In the evening we witness the ethereal Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat. Rhythmic singing, melodious hymns and the sight of numerous lamps illuminating the river create an enchanting atmosphere that resonates deeply in our souls. Ganga Aarti is a spiritual experience that embodies the essence of Varanasi.

Day 2: Sacred Confluence in Prayagraj:

We will bid farewell to Varanasi and proceed to Prayagraj, a city known for its Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. This auspicious place is of great importance in Hindu mythology and is believed to purify the soul. We will take a boat to Sangam where we will witness a wonderful view of the mixing waters. The atmosphere is charged with piety as pilgrims take holy baths and offer prayers.

From Sangam we go to the vast Kumbh Mela campus, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. Even if we are not visiting during a major event, exploring the Kumbh Mela area provides insight into the scale and grandeur of this spiritual phenomenon. Temporary structures, colorful tents and bustling markets create a lively atmosphere that showcases Prayagraj’s rich cultural heritage.

Then we will visit Allahabad Fort, an architectural marvel that stands high on the banks of the Yamuna River. The grandeur and historical significance of the fort captivate us as we discover its intricate architecture, hidden passageways, and historical artifacts. The fort also offers a panoramic view of the city and the estuary, leaving us in awe.

Day 3: Cultural Treasures of Varanasi:

On the last day, we return to Varanasi to delve into its cultural treasures. We visit Ramnagar Fort, located on the eastern bank of the Ganges. Dating back to the 18th century, this majestic fort provides an insight into the opulent lifestyle of the Maharaja of Varanasi. Visiting its grand halls, museum of vintage cars and a unique collection of medieval weapons takes us back to a bygone era.

In the afternoon, we will head to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), a prestigious educational institution known for its rich academic heritage and impressive architecture. At the BHU campus, we visit Bharat Kala Bhavan, an art and archeology museum that houses a vast collection of rare paintings, sculptures, and artifacts that showcase India’s artistic brilliance.
